Child / Youth Protection Policy
Child abuse prevention and Ministry Protection policies and procedures are essential for every congregation, not only for the protection and safety of our children and youth but also for our volunteers and employed workers with children.
The Gospel calls us to be engaged in ministry with children and youth. We must not allow the risks to undermine or stop our ministry. Rather, we must:
-
Acknowledge the risks and develop a practical plan to reduce them
-
Take steps to prevent harm to our children and our workers
-
Continue to answer the Gospel’s imperative to be in ministry with children, making a difference in their lives.
The Child/Youth Protection Policy template was revised in December 2009, effective 2010. Changes include the addition of information related to online safety, clergy confidentiality and reporting requirements, as well as other revisions. We ask that the policy be reviewed in it's entirety due to these updates.
