Pathways to Mission.

We hope this site will help you and your church learn new ways to continue to fulfill our mission to "Go and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:18)

We have created this web site to help you fulfill this mission. To navigate through Pathways to Mission, you can follow the links section on the left side of each page to each of our seven primary sections.  Each section contains information to help you on your Pathway to Mission.

The Florida Conference Mission Statement commits all congregations to "be a vital connection that is part of God's transformation of the world."  Bishop Timothy W. Whitaker reminds Christian disciples to be "'A Light to the Nations' as expressed by the Servant Songs of the prophet Isaiah."

The "Pathways to Mission" Manual is a path to mission.  It encourages local congregations to fulfill the mission statement and the Biblical mandate of the Florida Conference.  Jesus Christ gives us permission to, "Go and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:18).

Mission is girded with prayer, learned, understood, expressed in partnership. Then it is put into action.  Get acquainted with the "Global Mission Wheel."  Study the interpretation of the "Wheel".   The Design Team for the Conference Table on Global Mission held January 14, 2004, introduced the Wheel to the Conference.  The "Wheel" sets the standard for healthy mission partnerships in all areas of the conference and beyond.

The Seven Conference Mission Initiatives offers your congregation broader pathways for mission.  The Initiatives provide local and global sustainable ministry. All 745 churches and missions in the Florida Conference may participate at the level which God provides for each congregation.

The Conference Mission Steering Committee monitors the Conference Advance Specials that are listed here.  Each one is a pathway to mission.  Your congregation may choose any one to partner with.  One hundred percent of the offerings are received by the ministry.  Invite an interpreter from the ministry to share their story.  All of the conference advance specials are Florida ministries.  In addition to these, you may choose to support the General Advance Specials through the General Board of Global Ministries.  There are over 3,000 ministries available. You can search advance special at the gbgm-umc.org web site

There are over 1,100 missionaries supported by the United Methodist Church through the General Board of Global Ministries.  The twenty-three missionaries listed here are a sample of the finest Christians serving in all the populated continents in the world.   Send any of them an email telling them you are praying for them or greet them on their birthday.  A number of General Advance Specials are related with their ministries.

In our Other Helpful Pathways section there are pathways through a list of mission agencies and ethnic ministries.  You will discover a world of information and learning, which will enable your church to build a mission media center or to find a mission where your United Methodist Volunteers in Mission may go, or where a candidate for mission ministry may respond to their call.

Have a wonderful adventure on your pathways to Christian Mission!
